Countless insects rely on leaf cover to complete their life cycles. Always be mindful of inquisitive pets and children who may be tempted to take a bite of these ephemeral features. If you find a bounty of mushrooms in your lawn or garden, there’s no need to be alarmed or take action in most cases. Moist conditions in the fall create the perfect environment for a variety of mushroom species to develop their “fruiting bodies,” or above-ground reproductive structures.
